Happy New Year!
It has been about 2months since I have posted anything new, sorry for the slacking. Since I last blogged alot has happend.
First of all I flew to Seattle for our Conference on Information systems. The name of the Conference was Workshop for Information Technology Systems. I had an awesome time in Seattle. Monica traveled with me along with two other IS students namely Jeffrey and Hulusi. We had quite an adventure to get to Seattle. Our plane left about an hour late and then after about 45 minutes of air time we had to turn back. A lady across the row from Monica and me was having a heart attack and we had to rush back to Dallas. Fortunately, there were 2 nurses, an MD AND an EMT on board. We safely made it back to Dallas and the lady was fine. I must say it was all very surreal while it was happening.
We ended up staying the night at the Harvey Hotel in Irving, courtesy of American West They also provided us with a meal voucher, and later reimbursed us with a $200 voucher for travel....we are thinking Vegas looks pretty appetizing.
So we finally made it to Seattle the next day...this time on a direct flight to Seattle via American Airlines...woo hoo... more room in coach. This was Friday. After a few hours of lying around in the hotel Professor Mookerjee arrived and he showed us around a little. We hit Pike street marketplace and had turkish food for lunch. That evening we headed over University of Washington (where Dr. Mookerjee used to teach and research) and met Professor Andrew Winston. He is a key figure in our research field from the University of Texas at Austin. It was really interesting to here his insights on the growing direction of our field. After this we hung out with UW PhD students and exhcanged research ideas. After the best Chinese food EVER, we went back to Dr. Mookerjee's hotel room to finish up tweaking our presentations. Can you believe all of this is just the first day!!!
I will try and sum up the rest, my presentation of the paper went really well, as did all of UTD's presentations! My friend Hulusi was awarded the Best Paper award, and we all left pretty happy. It was an awesome experience. I am already working on papers for next years conference.
I think that is enough for now... I will finish off the rest of the trip later and Christmas!!
Happy Merry...
